What's Freshers' Week?

The first week when all students are back on campus is traditionally known as ‘Freshers Week’. Lectures start and new students are getting used to where to go! Your SU will also lay on events all week to help you settle.

What can I expect?

This is your first week on campus with the entire student body, you get to meet your new classmates, find out more about the many MU services, consider becoming an Academic REP for your course, discover the joys of the SU Building; but most importantly, join us for some great social events!

Where does it all happen?

Orientation Week should have given you the low-down on where to go for classes, where the Library is etc. What you really need to do is make your way to the SU Building- we have great events running all week.

What if I'm not 18?

The SU Bar and Venue are licensed premesis- as such, you will need to be over 18 to attend any events held there. We will be running other events in the Student Space in the SU Building- open to all!

Any hints or tips?

If you are commuting you should really have a Student Leap Card- it can be a great money saver on your bus or train trip. Drop into the SU Info Centre and get yours.

Your Student Officers can be found in their offices, which are located in the Students’ Union Building along with your Student Bar, Venue and Info Centre. Please pop on down to them if you have any problems or questions, or even just to say hello!

Above all – relax! It will take time to get used to all the new stuff that will be happening throughout your time here. Take it easy on yourself for the first week. Trying to meet new people appears daunting, but everyone is in the same boat. Just say ‘Hello’ to people on your course and take it from there!
