Meet Your Officers
Leon Diop - MSU PRESIDENT
Niamh Halpenny - VICE PRESIDENT FOR EDUCATION
Hey everyone,
My name is Niamh Halpenny and I am your old and new Vice President for Education and Deputy President of MSU. Yes, you may have guessed this is my second year in the job representing the students of Maynooth and do you know what, I F**kin love it
First of all welcome back to the oldies, I am sure you are all gagging to get back to Maynooth in September and of course congratulations to the newbies or FRESHERS on getting into college, the hardest part is complete and all that is left is fun, exams and procrastination.
So back to me, 23 years old and I am an Arts graduate of English and Geography from thelittle village of Nobber ( YES it’s a place) in Contae na Mhi and I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing my time as a student was here and it was a lot to do with the students union which you will get to know very well over the next couple of weeks. If you do not know what I am about well I am pretty much the less sexy side of the Maynooth experience I deal with mainly exams, assignments, and class representatives and so on but after 5pm, I swear I am good craic.
GET INVOLVED! Represent your class and be part of our student Senate. If you are on the student senate then you are pretty much my boss, I am answerable to all the students here in Maynooth but our senators are the ones that keep all the officers and me on our toes and make sure we are doing our job to the best of our abilities. So if you are into politics and you think you can stand up for the students of Maynooth then JOIN IT, keep an eye out because nominations will be opening very soon or just pop into the SU and I can give you all the information you need
Therefore, if you are worried about exams, or are thinking in your head ‘what in god’s name is compensation’ I am your woman, I know all the suss so don’t be afraid to pop into me anything throughout the year, college can be a scary time but we are here to help you through it even if I am just a friendly face to talk to I don’t mind, whatever your need I am here.
Always remember that we the students union are here always and the only reason we are here is because of you as a student body, never feel alone and never EVER feel confused.
I am so excited to meet all of you very soon during fresher’s fortnight (GET YOUR TICKETS) so stay safe, have fun and I have no doubt you will not regret choosing Maynooth
G’luck

Aoife Fennell - VICE PRESIDENT FOR WELFARE & EQUALITY
Hi all,
My name is Aoife, I'm 22 years young, I've just finished my Bachelor of Music undergraduate degree and I'm a Kildare Gal born and bred! This year I am your Vice President for Welfare and Equality.
My role is to be a listening ear to all students of Maynooth University and Saint Patricks College Maynooth, to represent students both within the university and on a National level and of course to run some unreal campaigns!
This year I hope to get to know as many of ye amazing Maynoothians as I possibly can, so here's 5 things you may or may not know about me:
1) I LOVE tea (Barrys or Lyons I don't discriminate).
2) Being creative is my thing, did my pink hair give that away?
3) As well as having music from a young age I have worked in a stage school and as a face-painter for many years.
4) I LOVE food, all kinds of food, but anything with bacon or eggs and I'm ESPECIALLY happy!
5) I only started watching game of thrones last year, I know- shock horror! Yes I have watched all seasons to date and yes I binge watched them in a week!
I decided to run for Vice President of Welfare and Equality because I wanted to make a difference. I have always been told I'm a bit of a momma bear, who listens and helps when needed. So I believe this position will be the perfect fit.
I have an bunch of plans for this year but one of my main goals is to raise awareness and to help Maynoothians improve every aspect of their own well-being, as the saying goes, your health is your wealth!
Most Importantly I am here for you. Whatever is on your mind, I'm here to support you, listen and help in every and any way I can no matter what you're going through. Never hesitate to contact me either via email or Facebook!

Darragh Moran - VICE PRESIDENT FOR CLUBS, SOCIETIES & STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Hi all,
The name's Darragh Moran and I am first and foremost, a Dub!
I came to Maynooth from Lucan in 2014 where I began my B.A. in Geography, Spanish and Nua-Ghaeilge.
I have a deep love for mo theanga dhúchais, but my pride and joy lies in my sport. I was a rugby scholarship student here in Maynooth and in my time here I was played an active part in the Rugby Club, the Aussie Rules Club and I even dabbled in the 100m with the Athletics Club.
I also became involved with a couple of societies too; like the Cuallacht Cholmcille, Business Society and the MU SVP, and this is where my Union experience began, as the Union plays a vital role in the running of all our Clubs & Societies here on Campus. My main aim this year would be to get 'YOU GUYS' involved in your Union, whether through events, clubs, societies or even just calling in to one of your Vice Presidents for a chat and a coffee (..or tea).
Either way, I'm looking forward nto an amazing year with you all!
