Meet Your Officers
Leon Diop - MSU PRESIDENT
Katie Deegan - VICE PRESIDENT FOR EDUCATION
Hey everyone,
My name is Katie and I am your new Vice President for Education. I'm 22 and just completed my Business Management degree.
First of all welcome back to the oldies, I am sure you are all gagging to get back to Maynooth in September and of course congratulations to the newbies or FRESHERS on getting into college, the hardest part is complete and all that is left is fun, exams and procrastination.
I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing my time as a student was here and it was a lot to do with the students' union which you will get to know very well over the next couple of weeks. If you do not know what I am about well I am pretty much the less sexy side of the Maynooth experience I deal with mainly exams, assignments, and class representatives and so on but after 5pm, I swear I am good craic.
GET INVOLVED! Represent your class and be part of our student Senate. If you are on the student senate then you are pretty much my boss, I am answerable to all the students here in Maynooth but our senators are the ones that keep all the officers and me on our toes and make sure we are doing our job to the best of our abilities. So if you are into politics and you think you can stand up for the students of Maynooth then JOIN IT, keep an eye out because nominations will be opening very soon or just pop into the SU and I can give you all the information you need
Therefore, if you are worried about exams, or are thinking in your head ‘what in god’s name is compensation’ I am your woman, I know all the suss so don’t be afraid to pop into me anything throughout the year, college can be a scary time but we are here to help you through it even if I am just a friendly face to talk to I don’t mind, whatever your need I am here.
Always remember that we the students union are here always and the only reason we are here is because of you as a student body, never feel alone and never EVER feel confused.
G’luck

Kim Lockyer - VICE PRESIDENT FOR WELFARE & EQUALITY
Hey guys, so my name is Kim and I’m your new Welfare and Equality Officer for the upcoming academic year. I completed my degree in Social Science so, Sociology and Social Policy. I loved every second of my three years here in Maynooth although I’m absolutely aware of and understand exactly how stressful and trying college can be. Being a student is tough!
As a first year student I was terrified and lonely and struggled a lot. It was because of the help provided to me by the then SU team, in particular my old welfare officer that I found my feet and fell in love with Maynooth. I want to be that person for the students of Maynooth this year.
I am here to help. With anything. I’m a friend for all. I am here to help with any issue be it health, finance, accommodation, anything! Even if it’s just for a friendly chat, get into contact!
You can reach me through my facebook page: VP for Welfare and Equality Kim Lockyer or else through email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Mental Health is one of my favourite topics and I hope to do a lot of work around mental health especially in the upcoming year. I have lots of fun and exciting ideas about campaigns and absolutely can’t wait for the year ahead!
I look forward to meeting you all in the coming months and am buzzing to help you all have the best academic year possible!

PAUL KENNY - VICE PRESIDENT FOR CLUBS, SOCIETIES & STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Hi all,
Hi, my name is Paul Kenny. I’m an Energetic, Approachable, and Hardworking person. I’ve big ears so I’m here to listen to all your problems and try solve them.
From the beginning of my time here, I’ve taken in all Maynooth has to offer- from participating in boxing inter-varsity’s and discussion groups, beer pong competitions and charity events. Needless to say, Maynooth has crafted me into the person I am today by creating a community where people can truly be themselves. This is why I believe I embody the best this university has to offer. My ideas are simple: I plan to oversee the development of an APP for clubs and societies, introduce a job scheme, establish a student/resident rapport and more areas to socialise in. I’m just trying to give the students of Maynooth the same enjoyment I had in this fantastic place.
My main aim this year would be to get 'YOU GUYS' involved in your Union, whether through events, clubs, societies or even just calling in to one of your Vice Presidents for a chat and a coffee (..or tea).
Either way, I'm looking forward nto an amazing year with you all!
