About the MSU Student Senate
The MSU Student Senate is made up of 45 students who represent 6 panels and 24 interest groups. Of the 45 members, 29 are directly elected as members of the MSU Student Senate annually. In addition to supporting the work of the MSU Executive, the MSU Student Senate develops and determines Union policy and ensures that members of the MSU Executive are held accountable for the conduct of their respective roles.

The Term of Office for MSU Student Senate positions is from the date of their election to 30 June 2024.
Candidates for the Student Senate positions must be registered MU/SPPU students for their term.

- Decide what position you’d like to run for. Remember, you can only be nominated for one position.
- Complete the Nomination Form. Nomination Forms are available from 09.00 AM on Tuesday, 19 September 2023 to 1 PM on Friday, 29 September 2023. (Nomination Forms may be obtained online at www.MSU.ie/election or from the MSU Info Centre).
- Get the required number of MU/SPPU students needed to ‘nominate/propose’ you. For any nomination to be valid it must have the signatures and corresponding student numbers of the required number of students (‘Proposers’). Proposers must be registered students of MU/SPPU.
- Find your Campaign Manager: this is the student who will help you to organise and run your election campaign.
- Write your Manifesto: this is the document that tells students what you hope to achieve if elected, outlines your experience, skills, passion, why you are the right person to lead the Union etc.
NOTE: Late or incomplete nominations cannot be accepted – for a successful nomination you need to have filled out the Nomination form correctly and the documents must be received before 1 PM on Friday, 29 September2023.
