MSU Student Life Awards

The Maynooth Students’ Union Student Life Awards are here again! This will be the second annual Student Life awards and will be bigger and better than ever. This event aims to celebrate the work of students that have not been truly acknowledged until now. We want to bring the glitz and glam back to your student experience. Date will be announced soon.

Award Titles

Student Representative of the Year

The recipient of this award should be an elected student, a Senator, an Academic Representative, a Clubs Council member or Society Council member who has demonstrated effective and engaging representation this year, being a leader amongst their peers, raising their voice on a broad range of interests to improve student life.

>Environmental and Sustainability Activism of the Year

This award recognises the contribution of an individual or group of individuals or society who engage in advancing the cause of environmentalism and sustainability in the student movement or community. This award recognises the commitment to student activism on environmental and sustainability issues, whether its hosting events, spreading awareness or campaigning for change but their campaigning does not have to specifically be targeted at students.

Outstanding Mental Health Activism

This award recognises the contribution of an individual or group of individuals or campaign on the topic of promoting and bettering mental health for the student body. Promoting mental health awareness, issues, positivity is an important part of student life and this award recognises committed leadership from an individual or group for leading the way for mental health awareness in 2021/2022. The award winner will have actively engaged the student body in the discussion around mental health.

Contribution to Charity Award

This award will go to the nominee who has demonstrated excellent commitment to charity fundraising and awareness in 2020/2021, it can be an individual or group. Through their work the nominee will have actively spread awareness about charitable causes in innovative ways and shown real leadership amongst their peers.

Dedication to Volunteering Award

The Dedication to Volunteering Award shines a light on the remarkable achievements of volunteers across the Maynooth student community. Its aim is to recognise and affirm volunteering and charitable work undertaken by Maynooth students from all backgrounds and circumstances across activities within the institute, the local community or at a national level.

Best New Student Representative of the Year

The recipient of this award should be an elected student for the first time as a Senator, an Academic Representative, a Clubs Council member or Society Council member who has demonstrated effective and engaging representation this year, being a leader amongst their peers, raising their voice on a broad range of interests to improve student life. N.B only students who are new representatives in the Union can apply for this award.

Inclusivity Award

Inclusivity promotes equality in our campus and community, it is not just about celebrating diversity but encouraging the developments of social inclusion and relationships for all students. This award will go to an individual or group that strived to create an inclusive environment in the university community or the student movement.

Gaeilgeoir na Bliana

Tuigeann Aontas na Mac Léinn Má Nuad tábhacht na Gaeilge i saol na mac léinn, agus mar sin, bronnfar an gradam seo ar mhac léinn atá tiomanta do chur chun cinn na Gaeilge le linn na bliana. Is féidir le grúpa nó daoine aonair dul isteach san iomaícht don ghradam seo

Maynooth Students’ Union understands the importance of Irish in students’ lives, and as such, will present this award to a student who is committed to promote the Irish language throughout the year. Groups or individuals can be nominated for this award.

Student Led Project/Initiative of the Year

This award will go to the individual or group who established a new initiative/project that aided student life in 2021/2022. This initiative/project will have spread awareness on a specific topic, campaigned for change, spread positivity or promoted inclusion in the community or in the student movement. This award recognizes the power of student leadership and using one’s voice.

Other awards on the night

There are a number of other awards that will be presented on the night including the President's Award and the Student Staff Member of the Year Award. However, these are not available for public nomination.

 

 

 

The awards ceremony will take place in person at the end of the semester!!!!!!!!
