WHAT EVENTS DO MSU RUN FOR STUDENTS?
At MSU we have our very own Bar and Venue right here on campus. This means that we can put on events almost every night of the week! Whether it’s a large ticketed event like the Summer Ball or live bands or DJs while you relax in the Bar, the SU has you covered!
We always try to book student acts to play whenever we can so if you’re a budding DJ, or a band looking for work, drop in and make yourself known to the MSU Events Team.
WHAT can i expect?
Recently we hosted some of Ireland’s biggest acts including; Wild Youth, Ryan Sheridan, Hare Squead, The Academic, Delorentos and Picture This. Often we have acts booked just before they break out and play venues like the 3 Arena- we provide you with the chance to see them up close and personal before everyone else!
Added to this are the events run by individual Clubs and Societies- everything from The Rose of Maynooth and Dance Offs to Karaoke and Quizzes. Clubs & societies run events most nights in the SU Venue.
WHAT’s THE CHARGE?
The majority of our entertainments in the Bar are provided free of charge- we know students haven’t got money to throw around! For the larger gigs there will be ticket charges, but we always try and keep it as low as we can.
Individual Club & Society events often have a small door charge to cover costs or go towards charity- but don't worry, it won't break the bank!
ANYTHING PRACTICAL I CAN DO?
As we said, if you are a musician or DJ there may be opportunities to play in the Bar or the Venue. Not musical? No problem- we also hire students to be part of our Events Team (events, lighting, sound etc.) and Creative Team (videos, photos, posters etc.) and to work in the SU Bar. Drop into the MSU Events Office for all the details.

MSU has a dedicated Events office in the SU Building with all the info about upcoming shows and how Clubs & societies can go about running their own show. You can also find out what’s happening on our social media channels.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The MSU Bar and Venue operates on a Club Licence where registered students are members. You are required to carry your Student Card with you at all times to prove membership and it is mandatory to present it to access the Bar & Venue from 6pm.
During term-time members may sign in guests (one guest per student) to events in the MSU Bar & Venue. Exceptions to this practice may apply at certain times.
